Overview:

The Pine Valley Ranger District has 1 Crew Lead position available for the 2024 summer field season. The focus will be overseeing and supervising a crew of 4 youth. This crew will be dire the eradication and control of noxious weeds throughout the district. experience will be gained in noxious weed identification, mapping, and eradication. Other rangeland management activities could include assisting in rangeland monitoring, fence construction, trail maintenance and other tasks as needed.
This position requires a commitment to safety, and completion of assigned projects while following assigned tasks correctly and in a timely manner. Ability to adhere to all rules and regulations of the IIC Intern Guidebook while working 10-hour days, outside in various weather conditions and terrain. Ability to be respectful and considerate to all team members, land managers, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Youth Crew
  • Ensuring Yourself and Crew Adhere to Safe Practices
  • Oversee the treatment of noxious weeds across the Pine Valley Ranger District
  • Drive four-wheel drive truck
  • Collect data using tablet and/or GPS

Qualifications:

  • Leadership ability
  • Capable of overseeing work in rough terrain and inclement weather
  • Driver's License
  • Ability to carry equipment and use hand tools
